AbstractIn this book it is discussed both the complexity and the diversity of the interaction between personal resources, social networks and structural opportunities within the definition of immigrant' entrepreneurial strategies. Though an elaborated explanation of immigrants' entrepreneurial strategies theory, the researcher reach out to a heuristic model. It is provided an assessment test of the heuristic model through an analysis of data from a survey of 704 entrepreneurs of Chinese, Indian and Cape Verdean origin residing in Portugal. Even within this sample with only three different immigrant groups, it was proved that there are a surprisingly wide variety of entrepreneurial strategies, ranging from individuals desperately struggling to survive with small personal savings, to highly successful businesses benefiting from strong social networks with essential entrepreneurial resources.
